What is R2S2?
Reaching Rural STEM-H Students (R2S2) is a 4.9 million grant funded by the U.S. Department Of Education to serve Hispanic and low income students from rural areas to achieve advancement in STEM-H fields of study.
Grant Priorities:
UNM-Valencia is committed to improving the educational attainment of minority, low income students in our rural services area. The Reaching Rural STEM Students (R2S2) project is designed to address U.S. Department of Education’s absolute priorities by implementing full support services needed to complete demanding Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Health (STEM-H) degree programs and providing expanded transfer assistance to four-year STEM-H bachelor’s degree programs, all supported by evidence that meets moderate evidence of effectiveness.
Who we serve:
The R2S2 grant is specifically designed to target students from rural, low income and Hispanic student’s pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Health. Though the program offers great services, R2S2 recognizes student success is a campus-wide effort. Tutoring is open to all students.
What is STEM-H?
STEM-H stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Health subject areas. These are areas of study and career fields that you can pursue.
